HISTORY

It’s estimated that there are over 15,000 foreigners living in Brasília! In face of the great need to have a place where those foreigners could feel welcomed to worship God in a language they can understand, fellowship together and hopefully even make new friends in the city, all while strengthening their faith, that a few Seventh-Day Adventist bilingual members were encouraged to begin this international church project. The project took off on the first semester of 2019 with the gathering of more members fluent in the English language, willing to leave their origin churches to work on this mission project.
As beginnings always tend to be, the challenges were great! On top of those somewhat expected struggles, a few months later we had to face the trials of a pandemic, at some point it was even considered to shut down this project due to the lack of resources to keep it going. But after many months of lockdown and social distancing, the worship services finally returned to onsite attendance and little by little, new members with bilingual skills were coming and getting interested in offering up their talents to this mission. During these few years we’ve already been reminded so many times that God has never forsaken His children; He is always opening the doors at perfect timing in face of every challenge!

Today, the Brasília International Church has doubled in size of members and volunteers, offers two worship services – in Spanish and English, in addition to the Sabbath School classes in both languages for adults, and children. We know there are still many challenges ahead, but our trust in God is greater and everything we do is only to serve Him and praise His name.
